Hello Island Zone Members!
The next Island Zone meeting is scheduled for May 23rd in Port Alberni at the Alberni Valley Multiplex. This meeting is going to have a large emphasis on programming.
Shawn Bourgoin, Manager of Recreation Services for Port Alberni will be facilitating the programmer session. He has asked programmers to come prepared with the following:
- Bring a copy of your Spring/Sumer Leisure Guide to exchange with the other Programmers (6-7 copies)
- Highlight the programs that you most excited about for the upcoming season and why
- Staff Challenges and Successes – what’s working and what’s not working for recruitment & hiring for Recreation Program Staff
- Staff Training & Development – what additional training sessions are you providing Recreation Staff to set them up for success in the workplace
Feel free to share this meeting with anyone else working in the Parks, Recreation and Culture industry who you think may benefit from this meeting. All are welcome.

We will be holding elections for a new Zone Director for the Island Zone and are now accepting nominations.
The election will be held at this in-person meeting on May 23, 2024 at the Alberni Valley Multiplex
